Reports HS2 high speed rail link to Leeds and Sheffield could be cut
There are reports that the HS2 high speed rail link to Leeds and Sheffield could be cut to save over £10 billion.
It has been claimed that the panel reviewing the scheme wants to halt the line in the east Midlands due to spiralling costs.
The route is due to cut through the Shimmer estate in Mexborough and hundreds of other homes.
The Leeds MP Hiliary Benn and Transport for the North have today condemned any attempt to axe the line.
