Gang armed with axes and shotgun target Asda store in Leeds

A group of men wielding weapons including an axe and a sawn-off shotgun, have forced security guards to hand over cash they were delivering to an Asda petrol station.

Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at 7:08am in Killingbeck Drive, Leeds.

Security guards delivering cash for an ATM were threatened by a group of five to six men, who were armed with weapons

The offenders left the scene in a white Mercedes Sprinter van which was found abandoned and on fire a short time later in Killingbeck Cemetery.

A police cordon remains in place at the site and armed police are standing guard as investigations continue.
