Leeds murder victim named as police appeal for information

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Leeds have released his identity as they continue to appeal to the community for information.

Tcherno Ly from Leeds, was pronounced dead in hospital after being found seriously injured on Chapeltown Road, Chapeltown, shortly before 10pm on Sunday (25th August).

A post mortem examination has shown that the 21-year-old died as a result of a stab wound.

An 18-year-old man, from Leeds, who had been found nearby in Button Hill with stab wounds around the same time, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains under arrest in hospital. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

A 22-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder in Leeds early this morning as a result of ongoing enquiries. He remains in custody.

Tcherno was a single man who lived in the Hunslet area. He was originally from Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, and has family there as well as in Leeds and elsewhere in the UK.
