Police hunt arsonists after Ilkley cricket club pavilion destroyed in fire

Police are hunting arsonists who set fire to a cricket club pavilion destroying the building and everything inside including prized club mementoes and photographs.

It took around 20 firefighters to put out the blaze at Olicanian Cricket Club in Ilkley which was started in the early hours of Sunday.

An online fundraising page has been set up to raise £50,000 to rebuild the pavilion and today club members recovered charred bails from the fire which they have decided to incorporate into their own Ashes competition trophy.

The club, which is on Denton Road, has hundreds of members and is home to three senior teams, five junior teams.
