Murder investigation launched after 21-year-old man dies following incident in Chapeltown
Police have launched a murder investigation after a man has died following an incident in Leeds.
Shortly before 10pm on Sunday police were called to an incident in Chapeltown Road, Chapeltown, where a man had been found seriously injured near to the junction with Button Hill.
The man was given emergency treatment at the scene and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance but was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a 21-year-old man.
A scene has been put in place around Chapeltown Road to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.
A post mortem examination is due to take place later today to establish the cause of his death.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after he was found in Button Hill with serious injuries around the same time.
He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
