Passengers planning to travel on the East Coast main line are being urged to make alternative arrangements this bank holiday as there is set to be major travel disruption due to upgrades taking place.

There will be no Northern or Thames Link services between Kings Cross and Peterborough or Cambridge and no Great Northern service between Moorgate, Welwyn and Stevenage. LNER, Hull trains and Grand Central will not be running between Kings Cross and Peterborough.

The company says the £1.2 billion upgrade is set to offer more train seats and faster journeys once complete.

While there will be limited replacement bus services, the company is advising people to travel either today or on Tuesday when it is hoped the work will be finished.
