Massive haul of guns, knives and ammo seized from Doncaster address
An investigation is underway after officers in Doncaster seized a large quantity of firearms, bladed articles and ammunition from an address in Balby last week.
Doncaster’s Fortify team and the Serious Violent Crime Task Force (SVCTF) executed the operation as part of a night of action targeting criminal activity in the town.
The teams recovered 24 air rifles, four rifles, four shotguns and over 200 knives from the premises, along with 3179 rounds of ammunition.
It followed intelligence that although the occupant was licensed to own firearms, he was selling them to unlicensed buyers illegally through social media sites.
Detective Inspector Steve Smith who heads up Doncaster’s Fortify team said:
“My team and I work tirelessly to tackle violent crime in Doncaster, but we simply cannot do it alone; we need the support of the general public and businesses to make our streets safe.
“If you know of anyone storing or selling firearms illegally, we want to hear from you. These people present as easy targets for criminals who are looking to obtain weapons for malicious use.”
