Emergency services called to Calderdale's Lumbutts reservoir over fears rising water levels could threaten nearby homes
Emergency services were called to a reservoir in Calderdale over fears the rising water levels could threaten nearby homes.
Council staff and fire officers worked in the area and closed roads on Sunday (4 August) evening.
ITV News Calendar reporter, Katie Oscroft, who was at the scene, said that residents have now been told they can stay in their homes and there is no danger to their properties.
A road closure, which had briefly been brought in by the council, has also been lifted.
The council said it would make additional checks in the morning as a precaution.
Fire crews from Halifax and Todmorden had been in attendance, in attempt to drain water from Lumbutts reservoir in Todmorden.
A Fire Service tweet said that the reservoir walls had become strained "due to high levels and pressure on the structure".
The suspension of the road closure was earlier than Calderdale Council had initially anticipated.
Meanwhile, a warning that six homes would be evacuated as a precaution proved unfounded.
