The RSPCA is appealing for information after two kittens were dumped in a a graveyard in Rotherham.

The animals were found in a box at the cemetery on Rother View Road on July 3.

Neither of the kittens – which are thought to be around 10 weeks old and have been christened 'Boo' and 'Spook' – is microchipped.

Animal collection officer Ollie Wilkes said: “I suspect they’ve been abandoned deliberately.

“Unfortunately this is something we see a lot at this time of year.”

Last year the RSPCA took in almost 29,000 cats.

The summer months tend to see a spike in incidents of cats being abandoned.

The kittens are currently being cared for by fosterers. They will be rehomed if they are not claimed.
