Red Arrows fly over Portsmouth to mark 75th anniversary of D-Day

The Red Arrows have performed a commemorative flypast over Southsea Common, as part of events to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

In a tweet, one member of the display team wrote: "Honouring veterans and remembering the sacrifice and heroism of 75 years ago - humbling to form part of this afternoon’s flypast and events in #Portsmouth, commemorating D-Day."

The flypast was a highlight of a day of events marking the anniversary, during which the Queen said "the fate of the world" depended on the success of the invasion.
