Drug use rising in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire with 40,000 users across region
Drug workers who help addicts go through detox are warning more people will die from addiction unless there is an increase in funding.
It has been revealed that almost forty thousand people across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire are using crack cocaine and opiates like heroin.
The figure has gone up by more than 2,500 in four years.
Public Health England has acknowledged a rise in people affected in our region but says cash is being invested in services.
Drug counsellors say council funded services for drugs misuse in the region have received nine million pounds less than since 2013.
Nichola Menaul, from the UK Addiction Treatment Centre in Bradford, insists more support is needed.
