Doncaster Rovers have missed out on the play-off final at Wembley despite a spirited performance at Charlton.

Rovers staged a remarkable comeback after going 1-0 down in the first minute, and 3-1 on aggregate.

But goals from Tommy Rowe after 11 minutes, and then an Andy Buttler header with two minutes to go levelled the scores at 3-3 on aggregate, and took the game into extra time.

Doncaster then went ahead for the first time in the contest, when John Marquis nodded home in the 100th minute.

The lead lasted barely a minute before Darren Pratley equalised after a slip by the Rovers keeper Marko Marosi.

But in the penalty shoot-out, Tommy Rowe blazed wide to send Doncaster out, and Charlton to Wembley where they will met Sunderland for a place in the Championship.
