Joey Barton 'emphatically' denies assaulting Barnsley Head Coach Daniel Stendel

Fleetwood Town Manager Joey Barton has 'emphatically' denied assaulting Barnsley Head Coach Daniel Stendel on Saturday.

Barton tweeted on his official Twitter account where he emphatically denied the allegation made against him, and will not be making any comment until after the matter is closed.

The alleged incident is believed to have happened in the tunnel at Oakwell after Barnsley 4-2 win where it's reported Stendel required emergency dental treatment.

A man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault on Wednesday. He has subsequently been released and on bail until next month.

Officers say they would like to speak to anyone who may have caught the incident on camera or who may have mobile phone footage immediately before or after the incident occurred.
