Missing Lincolnshire pilot David Ibbotson's family are "in talks" with plane wreckage hunter

The family of David Ibbotson, the missing pilot from Crowle in Lincolnshire, say they have been "in talks" with David Mearns, the expert who found his plane with Emiliana Sala inside.

Writing on the crowdfunding page they set up to raise money to "bring him home", they said they've contacted Mr Mearns via phone calls and emails over the last week.

"We are looking into the best way forward," they wrote: "Once we have 100% confirmed the plan forward we will full update everyone. Thank you so much for your support. We can not thank you enough."

The update comes as the page nears four-fifths of its £300k target.
