Parents raise awareness of CMV virus after six-week-old baby dies

The parents of a little girl who died when she was six-weeks-old say they want to raise awareness of the common - and preventable - virus that killed her.

Annie Thompson lost her life to CMV before her parents could even bring her home to meet her two sisters in South Elmsall near Pontefract.

It's feared Annie may have contracted the virus in the womb through her mother, who could have passed it onto her after kissing one of her other children.

Now, Annie's mum and dad, Richard and Carrie Thompson, want to warn other parents of the risks posed by the CMV virus.
