Man dies after driving wrong way on A1
A man in his 30s has died after a fatal road traffic collision on the A1 near Ferrybridge after driving up the wrong way on the carriageway.
The incident which took place at about 6.20pm yesterday between junction 42 and 41 of the A1(M) Southbound.
A red Suzuki Swift motorcar was in collision with a silver Hyundai i40 car and then with the central reservation.
The male driver of the Suzuki Swift, who was in his 30s, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident, while the male driver of the Hyundai was also injured.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
A full closure was put in place on both sides of the motorway while recovery and investigation work was carried out.
