Warning to swimmers over sewage at West Yorkshire beauty spot
A councillor is warning not to swim downstream of a water treatment works at a West Yorkshire beauty spot.
There is concern that diluted sewage is being pumped into the River Wharfe at Ilkley.
But Yorkshire Water says it is common practice to use overflows during storm conditions . And they say they are operating with the permits laid down by the Environment Agency.
