Horsforth crash: Victims believed to be at party before collision

Police believe the four men who died in the crash at the weekend had been at a party shortly before the incident.

Caelan Megson, 21, Brandon Frew aged 19, Declan Grove, aged 19, and Matt Walshaw, aged 18 all lost their lives when the car they were travelling in and a taxi were in collision in Horsforth near Leeds on Saturday June 30.

Two girls aged 16 and 17, who were also passengers in the car were seriously injured.

The 16-year-old, who was previously in a critical condition, is now described as serious but stable. The 17-year-old’s injuries were not considered life threatening and she continues to recover in hospital.

The 42-year-old taxi driver from Bradford remains in hospital.

All the young people travelling in the car are from the local area. The school, which some of them attended, has issued a statement saying the community was 'shocked' and 'hugely saddened' at the news of the tragic accident.

Inquiries are continuing into the circumstances of the crash and the time leading up to it.
