Kyle Edmund drawn against Australia’s Alex Bolt in Wimbledon first round
British number one Kyle Edmund will play Alex Bolt in the first round of this year’s Wimbledon.
Left-hander Bolt is ranked 205th in the world and will be making his first singles appearance at SW19.
Bolt beat three opponents, including Edmund’s compatriot Alexander Ward, in qualifying for the tournament.Edmund became British number one in March and was the 22nd seed in the men’s draw.
The 23-year-old beat Andy Murray, who has dropped down the rankings due to injury, in straight sets at Eastbourne on Wednesday.
In doing so, Edmund became the first Brit to beat the two-time Wimbledonchampion since Tim Henman in 2006.
But the world number 18 crashed out of the Nature Valley Internationalyesterday, losing to 90th -ranked Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals.
Edmund will be looking to improve on his second round exit last year.
The Championships will commence on Monday.
