The West Yorkshire Playhouse has changed its name after revealing more about the £15.8million revamp it is set to undergo.

The theatre in Quarry Hill, Leeds, will now be known as the Leeds Playhouse.

The venue, which is currently home to two stages, will make use of a pop-up stage on the site until it reopens in autumn 2019.

It will host three refurbished stages, including a new studio space in a disused area in its foundations which will be called the Bramall Rock Void, and be accessible from a new city-facing entrance.
