A fundraising campaign has been launched to create a permanent memorial in Sheffield for legendary boxing trainer Brendan Ingle.

Ingle, who trained four world champions at his Wincobank gym, including Naseem Hamed and Johnny Nelson, died last month aged 77.

Discussions are now underway between civic leaders in the region to honour Ingle's memory with a statue.

Well-wishers are being invited to contribute to a £100,000 fund which would be used to pay for any memorial.
