Celebrations start to make 300th birthday of famed furniture maker
Month-long celebrations are starting in a West Yorkshire town this evening to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of famed furniture maker Thomas Chippendale.
A collection of his work is currently on display at Harewood House.
Chippendale was born, baptised and educated in Otley - where his statue stands outside the former grammar school Events to mark the man once considered to be the maker of England's finest furniture include a birthday party and a new beer named after him.
