Rotherham fans turn out in force for League One promotion parade
Rotherham fans packed the town centre this evening to give their side a heroes' reception following their promotion from League One.
Paul Warne's men held an open-top bus parade to celebrate their play-off victory against Shrewsbury.
Following relegation heartbreak last season, the Millers secured an immediate return to the Championship with a 2-1 extra-time victory at Wembley on Sunday, thanks to two goals from club captain Richard Wood.
Tonight they set off from the club's New York stadium before showing off the League One trophy during a reception in All Saints Square attended by the town's civic dignitaries.
Wood said the response from fans was "overwhelming", adding: "It's great to see the town come out in force and support us. It just shows what an incredible achievement we've all achieved this season."
Warne said: "It's a pretty magical feeling. It's testament to what the lads have done this year. We've asked the players to put smiles on fans' faces and I think they've definitely done that this year the way they've played."
