'I know this because I lost my leg there' Who Wants To Be a Millionaire contestant wins £125,000

A amputee contestant from Halifax on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? won £125,000 by correctly naming the location of a castle - as it was where he lost his leg.

Gareth Kendall was asked where the ruins of Urquhart Castle in Scotland stood, to which he replied: 'I know this...because I lost my leg there' - leading to gasps in the audience.

He had earlier explained how he had lost his leg in a horror car crash, before later revealing he had been visiting the ruins of the castle on Loch Less.

Gareth took home the prize money to become the most successful contestant so far on the new series of the show - with host Jeremy Clarkson remarking 'Finally we have someone with some general knowledge.'
