Kirby Misperton protestor found guilty of obstructing police
A man has been found guilty of obstructing police during a protest at Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire.
York magistrates heard that Steven Peers, 50, refused to come down from an eight-foot high structure he'd climbed onto so it could be dismantled safely - but he persistently refused.
A specialist police team and an aerial platform had to be called in to remove him, and he was eventually arrested and brought down.
Peers was found guilty of wilfully obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty and sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £20.
