Dog lover Ben Parkinson becomes patron of Scottie rescue charity
Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson, one of the most severely injured soldiers to survive the Afghan conflict, has been appointed as the new patron for the Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme.
STECS is the only registered UK canine rescue charity specialising in caring for and rehoming Scottish terriers in need.
Ben, from Doncaster, is an ardent Scottie fan and the proud owner of Mac, a two-year-old rescue Scottish terrier who was rehomed with him and his parents, Andy and Diane, through STECS.
Ben was made an MBE in 2015, recognition for his contributions to charity, educating civilians and raising more than £1m for military charities .
