Police believe an armed robber who is on the run after escaping from prison in Cleveland could be in Leeds.

James Beeston, who is 28 years old, is originally from East End Park in Leeds. He absconded from HMP Kirklevington Grange, in Yarm, on Tuesday February 13.

Beeston was jailed along with three other men in 2013 for committing a series of armed robberies across West Yorkshire. He is serving a 10 year sentence.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, with fair/brown hair.

Police believe he may be in Leeds and want to hear from anyone who has information which could help find him.

He is not thought to present any immediate risk to the public but anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him and to contact the police on 999 immediately.
