Laura Plummer: Family told she will not be pardoned by Egyptian President
The family of Laura Plummer say they’re “upset and disappointed” after being told the 33-year-old will not be released.
The family flew out to Egypt amid reports that Laura, jailed for smuggling banned painkiller tramadol into the country, had been pardoned by the country’s president.
However after days of uncertainty, last night the British Embassy told them that there had been been a “mistake” and that Laura’s three-year prison sentence had not been quashed.
The family have told ITV that they’ll keep fighting and lodge an appeal against the sentence, after being given “false hope” of Laura’s release.
