A change in the week has definitely brought about a change in the weather. Last week we saw light southerly winds but this week we have strong to gale force west to northwest winds bringing our air from Arctic Canada and Greenland.

As that cold air digs in, frequent showers coming in from the Atlantic will turn increasingly wintry. A covering of snow can be expected over higher ground Tuesday and temporarily on lower ground too. There is a Met Office warning here. The wind will make it feel bitterly cold.

This cold weather with some icy surfaces will continue into Wednesday.
