Work to begin on York Community Stadium before end of the year
Plans for York Community Stadium have taken a major step forward today, with diggers expected on site before Christmas.
Within the next few weeks security and compounds will arrive at the Monks Cross site for construction work to start.
Once complete the complex will provide an 8,000 seat sports stadium for professional football and rugby league games plus leisure facilities including a swimming pool, climbing facilities and a sports hall.
There will also be a cinema complex and restaurants.
Councillor David Carr, Leader of City of York Council said: “This is a huge step forward. I am delighted that this major project is at last moving forward with construction workers on site before Christmas.
