Police in Lincolnshire have revealed that a total of 14 boxes containing poisonous mustard gas have now been unearthed near Woodhall Spa.

At two public meetings held by Lincolnshire Police and the Army tonight, officers told residents they believe they have now found all the cannisters they were looking for - including one box that was discovered by sonar equipment at the bottom of Stixwould Lake.

Officers explained that they do not believe the water at Stixwould is contaminated and the lake is safe. The cordon there has now been lifted.

Meanwhile, part of Roughton Woods - where the initial haul of canisters was found - is to be fenced off over the coming weeks because of contamination.

Residents were also warned that other land in the area is due to be checked over as part of a long term operation.
