Health bosses fighting for heart unit pass on information to NHS

Health bosses fighting to save Glenfield Children's heart unit are submitting more information to NHS England today - ahead of a decision over the site's future which could be made at the end of this month.

Staff at the site in Leicester, the closest place children from Lincolnshire can have surgery, say they are working with NHS England to give them everything they need to make an informed decision.

There has been an indication that a decision could be made at a board meeting on the 28th September.

The heart unit is currently under threat as health bosses say surgeons aren't carrying out enough operations to meet safety standards.

They say a decision though will only be made once 7,000 responses to the public consultation have been reviewed.
