Driver rescued after 50ft plunge down ravine

Emergency services pulled together when a motorist careered 50 feet down a ravine on Rishworth Moor in West Yorkshire.

The driver managed to get out of the vehicle unaided but was stretchered to safety in a team effort involving police, ambulance staff and the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team.

The rescue team was called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to provide urgent assistance to retrieve the driver, after the vehicle plunged down the steep banking on the A672.Twenty four team team members turned out and rigged a rope system and stretcher to assist the driver - who incredibly appeared to have only minor injuries.
