Sheffield man jailed for eight years for causing death by dangerous driving
A man has been jailed for eight years for causing death by dangerous driving in a collision in Tinsley, Sheffield, two years ago.
Vikaas Imran Mahmood, 31, was found guilty on two counts - causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving - following a trial at Doncaster Crown Court on Monday 17 July.
Mahmood was jailed for eight years for causing death by dangerous driving. He was jailed for three years for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. This sentence will run alongside the eight-year jail term.
Mahmood was also disqualified from driving for nine years and an extended re-test will be required.
On Friday 19 June 2015, Mahmood was driving a vehicle that was involved in a collision with a red Seat Leon on Bawtry Road, Tinsley, at around 1.40am.
A 22-year-old man driving the Seat Leon died at the scene and a passenger, a 22-year-old man, also suffered serious injuries.
