Family of Jo Cox launches plan to mark anniversary of her death with 'Great Get Together' events

Communities across the country will come together at a host of events to mark the first anniversary of the murder of Jo Cox next month.

Thousands of events are expected to take place as part of The Great Get Together between June 16 and 18. It will comprise of a weekend of celebrations aimed at bringing people together.

It comes after the Jo Cox Foundation teamed up with The Big Lunch to create the event, which is expected to be the biggest of its kind since the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

It will begin on Friday June 16 with events in Jo's former constituency of Batley and Spen and conclude with a huge party in the Olympic Park in London on June 18.

Among the events scheduled for Yorkshire will be a Saturday celebration at Brodsworth Hall in Doncaster and a Big Lunar Lunch hosted by the Artwork Creative Communities in Bradford.
