Thousands cheer on the Shaymen in promotion bid

Thousands of Halifax Town fans have turned up to answer chairman David Bosomworth's rallying call for the town to get behind the Shaymenin today's play-off final against Chorley.

Victory in the National League North play-off final at the Shay will ensure an instant return to the fifth tier for Halifax.

There were 3,655 fans in attendance for Town’s dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Salford in the semi-final last Sunday - Halifax’s biggest crowd of the season so far.

And a delighted Bosomworth appealed for an even bigger turnout for the final, hoping for anywhere between 4,000 and 6,00. All four sides of the ground have been opened for the occasion.
