Leeds army barracks evacuated over suspicious package

An army barracks at Pudsey near Leeds has been evacuated after reports of a suspicious package found in the grounds.

Bomb disposal experts are on their way to the 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment on Woodhall Lane and the public has been asked to avoid the area.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Facebook page states: "Suspicious Package, Thornbury Barracks. Please note that Bradford Road is currently closed to traffic at Gain Lane and Woodhall Lane following a report of a suspicious package in the grounds of Thornbury Barracks at about 9.45am today.
