Calderdale schoolchildren in London during terror attack safe

Pupils from four schools in Calderdale, who were in London whilst the Westminster terror attack commenced, have been accounted for.

So-called Islamic State claims it was behind the attack which left four dead, including a police officer and the assailant.

The man police believed to be responsible has been formally identified as 52-year-old Khalid Masood.

Eight people have been arrested and raids have taken place in London, Birmingham and elsewhere.

Calderdale Council’s Director for Adults and Children’s Services, Stuart Smith, said: “Four Calderdale schools were in London yesterday on school trips. Thankfully all these school children are safe and well and are continuing with their trips as planned.
