Homes evacuated after large fire in North Yorkshire

Homes have been evacuated after a large fire in a North Yorkshire village tonight.

The blaze started at a MOT test centre on Ingleton Industrial Estate, in Ingleton, at around 6.40pm.

Police say properties within a 200m radius have been evacuated and a safety cordon has been put in place in the south of the village.

The residents have been taken to a temporary rest centre at the local primary school provided by the county council.

The nearby stretch of the A65 has also been closed in both directions while fire crews deal with the blaze and determine if there are any hazardous chemicals on the site.

Police want residents outside of the evacuation zone o keep safe by staying indoors and keeping windows and doors closed until further notice.
