Man injured in 'explosion' on Beverley Road in Hull

A man has been seriously injured in an explosion at a flat in Hull.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries in the incident on Beverley Road shortly before 6.30am today.

The man has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary and emergency services remain at the scene.

It is not yet known what caused the fire and the property remains cordoned off while investigations take place.

The road was closed between between Alexandra Street and Queens Road but it is expected to be reopened shortly.
