Hornsea and Withernsea have taken the brunt of overnight storm tides.Huge waves sent tonnes of pebbles over the sea wall - this was MarineDrive in Hornsea today.

Nearby, on New Road, five homes were flooded.

Businesses affected by the flooding could be closed for several monthsand stand to lose thousands of pounds.

Sullivan's chip shop and Fun Spot Amusements on the sea front are both badly affected.

The Environment Agency said today that the East Coast had beenrelatively lucky.
