The killer of a man attacked as he slept in his bed - and hooked up to a kidney dialysis machine - has been jailed for 12 years.
Paul Sandford, who was also known as Paul Dyson, was asleep at his home in Maltby, Rotherham, on October 30th last year when he was savagely beaten by Adam Goodridge.
He was taken to hospital with a bleed on the brain, a fractured eye socket, and severe cuts and bruising to his face and hands and died five days later.
Goodridge, aged 30, of Huntington Way, Maltby, was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court and has been sentenced to 12 years in jail.
The court heard that Goodridge entered the house to find Mr Sandford lying in bed before going on to carry out a 'cowardly and brutal' attack on him, and after threatening that if he did not move from the area within a week, he would be killed.
