Single for Bomber Command Centre reaches No.1
A young group have moved straight to Number 1 in the CD Charts with a single in aid of the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln.
All proceeds from the 'Young Stars' record will go to raising funds for the International Bomber Command Centre, under construction inLincoln.
The record was written and produced by Jim Dooley of the 70s pop group the Dooleys together with Dan Saxon and Mark Jaimes, guitarist with Simply Red.
The group consisting of nine girls and eight boys are all from Lincolnshire and many have connections to serving RAF personnel, plus volunteers who served with BomberCommand in WW2 (some killed in action).
The 10-acre site, now under construction, has many features, it will house a digital archive, exhibitions, education centre with special needs facility, peace gardens and the Spire Memorial and Walls of Remembrance, listing the names of all 58,000 killed during the conflict.
It is due for completion and open to the public in Summer 2017.
