City of Culture 4 day festival headline acts announced

The headline acts have been announced for John Grant's North Atlantic Flux - a four day festival celebrating musical creativity.

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter John Grant will curate a brand new, experimental music festival celebrating Hull’s Nordic and international links, whilst exploring the best in sonic creativity as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.

John Grant’s North Atlantic Flux: Sounds from Smoky Bay will take place from 28 April until 1 May 2017 at venues across Hull city centre.

It is a key event in Hull 2017's second season, Roots & Routes (April – June), which highlights the city's links to the world and its role as a place of transmigration. Hull's partner cities include Reykjavik in Iceland and Aarhus in Denmark.

North Atlantic Flux: Sounds from Smoky Bay will feature a variety of electronica, contemporary classical, avant-garde and experimental music, as well as one-off collaborations. Venues around the city hosting the festival include Hull City Hall and Gate Nº5.

A native of the US, John Grant moved to Hull’s partner city of Reykjavik in 2011 and submerged himself in the musical and experimental culture, with which the city has become synonymous.
