Doncaster man found guilty of killing girlfriend’s baby
A 26-year-old man from Doncaster has been found guilty of the manslaughter of his girlfriend's baby after their aggressive and abusive relationship caused him to 'snap'.
James Larkin shook baby Christopher so violently, he caused him irreversible brain injury at their home in September 2014.
The infant died in hospital the next day. He was just 11 and a half weeks old.
Larkin was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. His girlfriend - and the baby's mother - Laura Ostle, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Sheffield Crown Court heard that both defendants told lies to the police in an effort to cover up the obvious truth - that Larkin’s actions that morning killed Christopher.
Laura Ostle even texted Larkin from the ambulance taking the dying child to hospital in order to align their accounts.
