Scunthorpe hospital ward closes due to vomiting bug
A ward at Scunthorpe hospital has been closed for 24 hours due to an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Bosses say the ward will be disinfected regularly to contain the outbreak while they assess the situation.
Visitors who have suffered from any illness are urged to stay clear of the hospital until their symptoms have cleared.
There is no specific cure for the illness, which is usually mild and should not last more than a couple of days.
If you have symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting you should follow this advice:
Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
Take paracetamol for any fever or aches and pains
If you feel like eating, eat foods that are easy to digest
Stay at home
Contact your GP to seek advice if your symptoms last longer than a few days or if you already have a serious illness.
