York City boss to host press conference ahead of crunch match

York City boss Jackie McNamara will face the media in what could be his final press conference in the job.

The 42-year-old Scot has agreed to tender his resignation if the Minstermen failed to achieve a 'positive' result away at Braintree on Saturday.

The club issued a statement on Wednesday, the day after a 6-1 defeat at Guiseley, saying that 'if the team fails to gain a positive result at Braintree Town on Saturday, the York City manager will tender his resignation.'

That loss left York in 20th in the National League Conference Premier, two points above the drop zone.

Braintree Town, on the other hand, are in deeper trouble sitting two places and three points below the North Yorkshire outfit after 14 games.

York City go into Saturday's game without a win any of their past 29 away league games.
