More than 500 jobs could go at bakery after loss of M&S contract
Union leaders have described as devastating the news that 524 jobs could go at one of the Calendar region's oldest established bakeries.
Gunstones of Dronfield, near Sheffield, says the cutbacks are as a result of losing a major contract to supply sushi, chilled rolls and garlic bread to Marks & Spencers.
Redundanices at the firm, which is part of the 2 Sisters Food Group, could begin by February next year.
Gunstones would not comment today but in a letter to the union said it may be willing to relocate employees within the group or work in different departments.
