The Deep endorsed as stoma friendly

The Colostomy Association has announced that Hull based attraction The Deep is now stoma friendly.

The Colostomy Association is currently campaigning to create a 'stoma-friendly society'. One of the main focuses of the charity's campaign is ensuring that accessible toilet facilities at popular destinations and organisations across the UK meet the additional requirements of people of all ages living with a stoma.

The aquarium has already won a number of awards for its accessibility and has now made changes to its four accessible toilets to ensure they are stoma friendly.

These changes follow The Colostomy Association’s recommendations:

• Hook on door – to hang clothing and belongings while changing stoma bag

• Shelf space – to easily spread out stoma supplies

• Disposal bin in cubicle – to avoid having to dispose of stoma bag in public view
