'Good samaritan' who assisted assaulted woman urged to come forward

Police want to speak to a 'good samaritan' who helped a woman who was attacked outside a supermarket in Normanton.

The Wakefield Adult Safeguarding Team are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place outside the Asda supermarket in Normanton on the afternoon of Wednesday June 22.

They keen are particularly keen to trace a woman wearing a brown coat who stopped to help the victim and may have seen what happened. 

Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident in which a 29-year-old Normanton woman was approached and repeatedly grabbed by a man known to her, while she was in the supermarket car park. 

He left the area after the lady intervened to ask the 29-year-old if she was alright. 

DC Clare Barran of the Wakefield Adult Safeguarding Team, said: "We are investigating this incident and would very much like to speak to a woman in a brown coat who stopped to ask the victim if she was alright.
